Do I need breakdown insurance?

If you travel regularly and want peace of mind whilst driving around, then breakdown insurance would be a good idea, knowing that you’re covered in the event of a breakdown.

Breakdown cover options:

Roadside Assistance: This is standard cover for all policies. In the event of a breakdown, someone will arrive to fix any problems at the roadside, however, if they are not able to resolve the problems then your vehicle will be either taken to the nearest garage or to your home.

Home Start: Policies don’t usually cover you if you breakdown within a quarter miles from your home, so if you can’t start your car when you’re at home, you’ll be covered if you have Home assistance cover. We will provide you with the attendance of a skilled mechanic at your location as quickly as possible.

Vehicle Recovery: If your vehicle breaks down at the roadside and cannot be fixed, then this policy will cover your vehicle and passengers to be recovered to either your home or garage.

Onward Travel: This cover can include alternative transport to where you need to go or accommodation is covered while your vehicle is being repaired.

Comparable Van Hire: If your vehicle cannot be repaired that day you will be provided with up to 3 days comparable van hire free of charge.

Car Hire: Car hire will be provided for up to 3 days if the vehicle cannot be repaired and the driver lives more than 50 miles away.

Messaging Service: A message service will be provided informing others of your delay.

Misfuelling: The vehicle will be recovered in the event of a misfuelling incident, this will include draining and flushing the fuel tank and the provision of 10 litres of fuel.
