Since the release of the first flick back in 2001, The Fast and Furious has been renowned as the hottest street racing film franchise of all time. To celebrate the upcoming 2015 release of the seventh instalment, we’ve put together a list of our favourite cars from throughout the years.
1967 ford Mustang Fastback – The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift
As well as looking incredible, this model thrashed its Nissan 350Z rival in the mountainous ‘honour race.’ Definitely worth a mention!
1994 Toyota Supra – The Fast and The Furious
With its twin-turbocharged 2,997 cc engine, this heavily modified Toyota delivered a huge 544bhp at a rate of 6800 revolutions per minute. Its max engine speed was a lighting fast 7,700 rpm which translates to a top speed of 185mph. As for acceleration, this machine can hit 60mph in just 4.3 seconds.
1968 Ford Escort – Fast and Furious 6
Despite the appearance of just one 1968 Ford Escort in Fast and Furious 6, the production team actually had five on hand during filming. Each was stripped down and meticulously rebuilt to include roll cages, racing seats, 13-by-7 inch wheels and a variety of body changes to transform the British classic into a badass streetcar.
1969 Dodge Daytona – Fast and Furious 6
Who could forget this gorgeous Daytona from Fast and Furious 6? The sleek aerodynamic design makes it oh so sexy and was given some extra tweaks to make it worthy of a street race. These included a shorter nose, lowered rear wing and custom built wheels.
1970 Dodge Charger – The Fast and the Furious/Fast & Furious/Fast Five
Making an appearance in three films, this car is a Fast and Furious classic! Five were purchased for stunt use yet only one was used for actual driving scenes. Thanks to the revamped Chrysler 426 Hemi V-8 engine, the car was capable of racking up a huge .25 miles in just nine seconds.
Mazda RX-7 – The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift
A modern day monster, this car received an eye catching Sunset Orange Pearl paint job for its debut appearance on The Fast and Furious set. Four-piston callipers were added to the brakes while A’PEXi N1 coilovers were installed to fine-tune the handling and tighten the fender gap.
1969 Yenko Chevrolet Camaro SYC – 2 Fast 2 Furious
After getting Brian out of a sticky cop scramble, this 1969 Chevy definitely deserves a mention! Unfortunately it meets an equally sticky end when he uses it to jump onto a moving boat, massacring the luxury car in the process.
911 Porsche GT3 RS – Fast Five
In the fifth instalment, Brian finally gets his hands around the wheel of a Porsche. A series of body modifications and a slick paint job made the luxury wheels well and truly street worthy.
